Web3 Messaging and Crypto Chat: What a Wallet-Native Messenger Should Do

Most crypto communities chat in apps that don't know what a wallet is. A web3 messenger should: wallet identity, token-gated rooms, payments and airdrops in the chat, real encryption and public proof. Here is the checklist, and Kanvo's answers.

1. Know your wallet without holding your keys

Linking a wallet should mean signing a message, never handing over a seed phrase. In Kanvo you link a wallet on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet or Polygon by signing a challenge; one account can hold several wallets, and Kanvo only ever sees addresses and signatures.

2. Gate rooms by what a wallet holds

Token-gated chat is the reason many communities want a web3 messenger at all. A Kanvo channel can require a minimum balance of a token, checked on-chain when someone asks to join — on Ethereum and Robinhood Chain. And because a gate set wrong locks everybody out while its owner, who never has to join, sees nothing, Ka…

3. Move value without leaving the conversation

Payments: send tokens to someone from inside a conversation. The confirmation shows the full address and the network in words, because those are the two mistakes that cannot be undone.Airdrops: a channel's owner can send its gate token to every member in one go, and members can switch it off for themselves.

4. Encrypt what should be private — honestly

Plenty of apps say "encrypted". The question is who else can read it. Kanvo's private conversations are end-to-end encrypted with MLS (RFC 9420): Kanvo stores ciphertext and cannot read them. Ordinary conversations and channels are not end-to-end encrypted, because search and the agent work in them. You choose when yo…

5. Prove what was said, without trusting the server

Messages don't belong on a blockchain — they would be public forever. Proofs do. Every Kanvo message carries a signed Proof of Send, and the ledger's roots are published to Sigstore Rekor and timestamped into Bitcoin with OpenTimestamps. Anyone can verify a message wasn't altered without taking Kanvo's word for it.

6. Help you keep up

Busy channels are where alpha gets lost. Kanvo's agent reads the channel so you can ask what you missed, catch up on a thread in a minute, and get a draft reply — and your Telegram and Discord can sit in the same inbox.

What about the token?

Kanvo has one, $KNVO. It is designed to be paid in for the AI and enterprise services Kanvo runs — and nothing in the app requires it. Every feature works without holding any.
